Unboxing: Fairyloot January 2018

Hello book lovers and welcome back to my den! Today I bring you the January Fairyloot box with the theme ‘Talk Faerie to me’.

If you don’t know about Fairyloot, it’s a monthly subscription box that contains one hardcover book and lots of book fandom goodies, like candles, tea, art prints, lettering, magnets, bookmarks etc. It really depends on the month and what the creative minds behind the box concoct!

So without further ado, let’s get into the items:

Fairyloot describes this as a ‘dark and decadent treat with faeries, mystery and mayhem’ – I don’t know about you but I think that sounds pretty great. There is also an art print featuring one of the characters.

Funny story, I actually bought this in store during January and then also found it in my Fairyloot last week – thankfully, the book shop accepted exchanges so I don’t have a duplicate.

I’ve seen quite a few raving reviews of this, so I’m very excited to read it. In a nutshell, the book is a reverse changeling story – a human child is taken to the faerie world.

  • ‘Prince Cardan’ Candle by Meraki Candles (which are now closed) – EXCLUSIVE

FullSizeRender 3

This candle is based on a character in The Cruel Prince! The spoiler card says they asked Holly Black what scents he would smell like and they created this candle! I think that’s very cool and I personally like the smell of it.

The notes are Clove, Oak-wood, Moss, Leather, Black Pepper and Pine.

  • Seelie Lip Balm by Geeky Clean – EXCLUSIVE (and Vegan)

The Seelie lip balm is apple-flavoured, which I’m not a big fan of – but I love the idea of having a choice between the Seelie and Unseelie courts! Seelie is supposed to be the ‘light’ court, whereas Unseelie is the ‘dark’ court.

I’ve never tried an adult colouring book but I’ve always wanted to, so this is great! The pictures inside are lovely, and though it seems a bit intimidating, I’m excited to give this a try.

The characters are Feyre and Rhysand from ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ by Sarah J. Maas, which I haven’t read yet! I’m sure I will love these more once I’ve finally read the trilogy.

  • ‘Only You Decide What Breaks You’ Pillowcase (18″ x 18″) by Evie Bookish – EXCLUSIVE

FullSizeRender 2

This is a quote from ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin’ by Sarah J. Maas. There are so many books themed around her series that I really feel like I need to read them! I’m not a fan of the size of the pillowcase, since all my pillows are rectangles, but I suppose I’ll get a reading cushion just for this.

  • 2 art prints by Diana Worak

They are of Rowan and Aelin from ‘Throne of Glass’ by Sarah J. Maas. Again, I haven’t read this series so I don’t know the characters.

  • 2 letter prints

That’s it for the January box! I really like the Fairyloot boxes – I like that they have so many exclusive items so that you (usually) never get duplicates, I like the themes and how nicely the items go with it – and I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking to subscribe to a book box!

    1. The book is a surprise so you don’t know what it is until you get it! But they tend to include either ARCs or something published within that month, so it’s usually unlikely for you to already have it. And thank you! πŸ™‚
