Happy 2018 everyone!
“Where have you been, Irina?” you ask – well, you see I was on holiday for a week and had no wi-fi (I know, violation of human rights) and I also had no internet for about another week whilst at home! (Don’t ask about the efficiency of French admin) But I am now back at University and whilst this means I am already drowning in work and deadlines, it also means I have wi-fi! Let’s all rejoice for a regular post schedule! (Ha, you wish)
I’m currently reading Fairest of the Lunar Chronicles and because I also want to finish Stars Above before I post my review, I thought I could do a make-up post instead. Given I spend a significant amount of my money on skincare and make-up and that I talk a lot about it to anyone who’ll listen (in addition to my book rambles), it only seems fair that I also talk about it here!
Now, I like being up to date with the new releases but seeing them really doesn’t help with impulse buys. However, I’ve noticed that quite a few youtubers and a few bloggers talk about something called “Project Pan”. In summary, this constitutes focusing on certain products in order to finish them. Seeing anti-hauls and people’s updates on their Project Pan has really helped me with being more conscientious of the products I spend money on, so up on the bandwagon I go! Here are my rules for my “18 in 2018 | Project Pan”:
- I won’t go on a “no buy” but I am limiting myself to a maximum of 3 eyeshadow palettes. They are my weakness and I tend to collect them – but many times I already have most colours and the few special shades can be duped by singles.
- I will post updates at the end of each month, though I’m not sure the progress can be quantified for all types of product.
- I won’t have 18 products in this Project from the beginning but I will add more as I finish items – hopefully I will reach 18 before 2019 is upon us!
Without further ado, these are my challengers for the next few months:
1. the Balm “Put It On A Lid” eye primer
I received this as part of a subscription box in my days as a complete makeup beginner. I have since found a different primer that works very well for my mildly oily lids, but I don’t want this to go to waste either. So in the Project Pan it goes! I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve used it but it’s a sample size, so it should (hopefully) be easy to get through!
2. Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil in DEA
I got this concealer when I walked into Sephora fully intent on buying the Naked Skin liquid concealer. But the lady handed me this one instead and said it’s better for blemishes. And because I didn’t remember the exact name of the Naked Skin one and because it swatched nicely, I went with it. In the meantime, I’ve realised it’s a bit too sheer on my redness and doesn’t cover blemishes that well and it can look a bit dry over time, especially under my eyes. Nonetheless, it has served me well and it only needs a last push before I can say goodbye to it and not buy it again.
3. Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in 01 Light
After going through about 3 Anastasia Brow Whiz in a row, I thought I’d change it up a bit and go for the Benefit brow pencil. I’m really enjoying it so far.
4. Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Champagne Splits Shimmering Skin in Champagne Pop/Flowerchild
I have made a dent in the highlighter (good) but the blush looks untouched (bad). I’m not sure how much progress I’ll make on the highlighter since I’ve been feeling more cool-toned ones lately, but the blush should be easy to pair with most day looks.
5. Ciaté Bronzer in Palm Island
I bought this a few months ago and as it is quite a big pan, I’m not going to kid myself and say I’ll pan this. But for starters, I’d like to remove the embossing. It seems to be quite deep though, so it might be a bigger task than it seems.
6. Perversion Mascara sample size
Received this when I bought my UD All Nighter and I’m really enjoying it! Time to use it before it dries up.
7. Nyx soft matte lip cream in Budapest/London
Given how many lip colours I have, I really should wear them more during the day. So! I will be doing my best to use these more and on a daily basis rather than the few times I wake up early enough.
8. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance
This is one of my all-time favourites – the shadows are so soft and blend so well! I really love the colours in this and I can safely say it is my most used palette. However, I have only hit pan on Tempera and Vermeer and I need to use it more
because I have to be able to justify to myself buying the Soft Glam palette that comes out in March because it’s just that great. My goal is to hit pan on Warm Taupe – transition shade I can use with most shadows – expand the pan on Tempera and make more progress on Vermeer and/or Primavera.
Are you going to take part in Project Pan? Are there any make-up items that you have too many of?
